Steph's Stroke

Stephon Marbury was 1-5 last night and I couldn't be happier. One reason I'm happy is that he hit a big hoop in the fourth when we needed it. But more importantly, I look at Marbury like I looked at PJ. If you go back and look at PJ's box scores, he never had more than a game here and there that stood out. But he was always doing other things that made a difference. With Steph, the fact that he's adapting his game to the team concept, getting the second unit to move the ball, and giving the second unit needed leadership is invaluable. Keep in mind that Steph is a natural scorer, too. So the stroke will come. PJ was never a big time scorer. So I'd rather have Steph get on board with the non-scoring part of Doc's game plan first.

Steph is still getting his legs under him for his offense. But the most encouraging thing is the fact that he is fitting his role very well and not trying to do too much. He is taking what the game gives him and is looking to play team ball. That is fantastic.

Yeah he is definitely looking to play within the team concept. The scoring will follow soon but like Doc said its impressive that his timing and passing doesn't look rusty at all.

A lot of folks are concerned about doc playing three guards at the same time. I like the idea, at least for a good 6-10 minutes per game. It gives us a different look.

It has to be all about matchups. It does give us a different look and against some teams could give us an advantage but Doc also has to be quick to pull the plug on it when it is obvious it isn't going to work to our advantage in a particular game.

I think he is doing it now just to work Marbury into the rotation with as much support as he can give him.

I still like throwing marbury out there against hermann. It didn't work out. But it was worth a shot. In fact, next time maybe hermann isn't hitting his shot and marbury is on fire.
