A Landlord Tidbit or Two

Shelden Williams, like David Robinson before him, became the third player in NCAA history to record at least 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds, 350 blocks and 150 steals.

Pretty damn amazing numbers.

Shelden Williams was a superior rebounder and defender, but he coughed up the ball incessantly. Being a strong offensive rebounder is dampened by slippery stone hands. --Sacramento King's Blogger

I hadn't heard that before. Yes, indeed, hands of stone and fifth pick overall in the NBA draft don't go together. Somehow, I don't think Shelden will feel the same need to go right back up with an offensive rebound on this team. But superior rebounder and defender. That's what I'm talking about when I compare him to Greg Kite and Rick Robey.

I really like Shelden. He is the type of player I gravitate to - defense first. rebound, block shots, rule the paint. He also seems like a really nice person to boot. His tweets have won me over as he is a devoted dad and husband and I am pulling for him to have his breakout season this year. Maybe all he needed was the right situation. Between Perk, KG, Sheed and Cliff, they will have him playing great ball by the end of the season.

Should be interesting to watch. I suspect he'll get some run in NBAx
