Notable Big Men at Ages 33 and 35

Kevin Garnett will be 33 during the 2009-10 season, while Rasheed Wallace will be 35. Does this mean that they will be unproductive? Here are a few historical precedents.

Age PPG RPG APG BPG

Hakeem Olajuwon

33 26.9 10.9 3.6 2.9
35 16.4 9.8 3.0 2.0

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

33 26.2 10.3 3.4 2.9
35 21.8 7.5 2.5 2.2

David Robinson

33 15.8 10.0 2.1 2.4
35 14.4 8.6 1.5 2.5

Wilt Chamberlain

34 20.7 18.2 4.3 NA
35 14.8 19.2 4.5 NA

Bill Russell

33 12.6 18.6 4.6 NA
34 9.9 19.3 4.9 NA

Note that I chose ages 34 and 35 for Chamberlain because he missed most of the season at age 33. I chose ages 33 and 34 for Russell because he retired before he turned 35. Finally, note that Blocks Per Game was not an officially tracked statistic during the Russell-Chamberlain Era.
