Is Butter Bean Here to Stay?

According to The Army, Doc likes Michael Sweetney so much, the Celtics may do something creative to keep him. I like the idea. Butter Bean has some NBA skills, mostly on offense, and provides insurance against 1) injury to Brian Scalabrine (whose head and other body parts are increasingly found in the repair shop); 2) an underperforming Shelden Williams. I like Shelden, but it has been clear that Butter Bean has more upside (not to mention back-side, bodda bing!); and 3) any other issues arising with our bigs. Doc even hinted that the Celtics were planning to help Sweets shed some pounds so he could be activated by mid-season.

The reference to mid-season is critical. That is the time of the year, of course, when trades are made. Tradeable assets include the expiring contracts of Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, JR Giddens, Bill Walker, and Shelden Williams. Glen Davis has a two-year contract, but Baby might actually be an asset desired by other teams, instead of just being a "tradeable" one.

Thus, having Butter Bean on the roster gives you someone who can step in if another big is dealt.

mee too! looking deep, i really think lester hudson is doing well! but i doubt he'll get anything other than garbage time minutes.

Also how long is left till skywalker comes back? i'm not sure.

Hudson probably headed for NBDL, no?

Billy Walker? Not sure. My guess is end of Nov before he can play.
