Let's Hope There is Another Gear

With 10:23 left in the fourth quarter, the Celtics had given up 91 points. Michael Sweetney had not yet entered the game. Ditto for Lester Hudson and JR Giddens. No, the defensive onus fell on the first two units, and they just weren't getting it done. Mostly, it was the first unit, as far as I'm concerned. They're looking a little older, and KG, notwithstanding the parties celebrating his return, just isn't the same defensive hound he's been in the past.

Let's hope there is another gear, and let's hope they find it. Otherwise, the only similarity between the Celtics' defense and the 1985 Bears' defense will be that Michael Sweetney is roughly the same size as William "The Refrigerator" Perry.

I watched the game with the sound down, and haven't read the papers this morning. Grande got injured?

Scal got injured. I get it. You know, I actually like that second unit. The might be playing celtics basketball better than the first unit. I wonder how much baby will play tonight?

I'm a phonetic misspeller. There-They're, soar-sore, etc

Doc is still playing with lineups that we hope he will not do during the regular season. I've been disappointed in what I have seen of the defense both with the starters and second units. The starters have appeared to be lackluster at best. Hopefully it is just the preseason and they will snap out of it for the season opener. What I saw last night gave me nightmares.

Daniels and Rondo were the bright spots last night, everyone else looked like their heads weren't in the game. Might have had something to do with that crazy bus ride to the MSG and getting there late or they may have been looking past the Nicks to the Cav's. Sheed was awful, 3-10 from the field, 1-4 from the line, he was chucking up 3's from 4 ft. behind the line and that turn around jumper from the corner that hit the side of the backboard was a prayer at best. Doc still played him for more minutes than all of the starters except Ray.

I'm with you Lex, they've got to do better than that.

Yeah, the Squeezer was indeed impressive!
