Sheed: No Days Off at Practice for the First Unit

Wallace nodded toward Eddie House and said, “It’s good because he can shoot the lights out of the gym, Quis (Marquis Daniels) can shoot and he can handle the ball, I can shoot and be down on the blocks, Baby is down there setting screens and rebounding. I told the first five it’s going to be a long year for them. It’s going to be a long year.” Long enough to last into June, Wallace hopes. He’s been around big traditions, and he’d like to write a page in Celtic lore.

Back in the 1980s, the second unit wore green jerseys and was known as the "Green Team." On a couple of different occasions, both Bill Walton and Jerry Sichting said that one simple fact--the second unit wearing green--helped them build an identity. Under the Rivers' Regime, the second unit wears white.

One of the reason that the Celtics teams of the 80's were as good as they were was because of the quality of players that they played against in practice. I think this team will have a similar edge for the same reason.
