They told him to start fresh and forget about last season and the missed shots. So, Vujacic went home to Slovenia for a reunion with family and friends. They told him to get a haircut so he would stop fiddling with his long locks.So, Vujacic went to see a hair stylist two weeks ago.
The Lakers asked a lot of Vujacic after last season, but no demand was out of line. He's now looking forward to a bounce-back season after his scoring average slipped to 5.8 points a game from 8.8 points in 2007-08. Vujacic said he's been shifted to point guard from shooting guard as Jackson tries to find an additional job for him. Vujacic said he has no problem playing a pass-first position on the court.

Ok. So Vijatooth is now the back-up point guard. Seems pretty straight forward, right?

"We want to play better defense," said Lakers' coach Phil Jackzen. How badly?
"It's one of our goals," Jackson said. "Last year we were a good defensive team and hopefully this year we'll be better.The key will be the Lakers' defense against penetrating point guards, a problem spot last season. Derek Fisher, now 35, is the unquestioned starter, though his playing time will be reduced after averaging 29.8 minutes a game last season. The rest will be taken mainly by Shannon Brown or Jordan Farmar, depending on which guard gains the confidence of Jackson.

Same old Lakers. At the end of the day, its the Kobe and Pau show and everything else comes down to a variation of the shell game, with Zen doing his best to hide deficiencies by moving players around the floor from one position to another.
January is a long way away. But I can't tell you how disappointed I'll be if Rondo doesn't go Game 6 on this contingent of "point guards" both at Staples and in the Gahden. Not one of them is a point guard, and not one of them should be able to much against Rondo on defense other than play matador.
