Ainge Still has Holes to Fill

Ainge did not fill all of the Celtics’ needs with this deal. The team desperately needed a tougher rebounder, but he will depend on Glen Davis, Kendrick Perkins, and Wallace to increase their production. The team needed another perimeter shooter, but he will look for Ray Allen to snap his season-long 3-point slump and begin hitting open shots.

Just wait for buyout season to begin. Danny ain't done yet.

He knew the team craved fresh blood, and he traded a 31-year-old shooter for a 25-year-old scorer, a nice exchange. He moved two younger players who never gained Rivers’s confidence and were gone after this season anyway. Now the Celtics have two roster spots for 10-day contracts or perhaps a player waived in this week’s flurry of moves.

House was a favorite of the organization, but his effectiveness had waned. Perhaps his ticket out of Boston was punched when he repeatedly couldn’t stay in front of New Orleans’s Darren Collison during a Feb. 10 loss to the Hornets. House had lost a step, and when he wasn’t draining 3-pointers, he wasn’t helping.

Last season, Robinson eliminated most of the warts in his game. He averaged 17.2 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds, shooting 84 percent from the free throw line.

Because of his diminutive frame, Robinson had developed a Napoleon complex and occasionally relished in making the spectacular play in lieu of the smart play. That is what infuriated his previous coaches, but D’Antoni was more irritated by Robinson’s showboating, such as slapping hands with Will Ferrell after a play.
