The frustration in the Bobcats locker room reached a boiling point not just because of the loss, but because of the way the Celtics acted while handing them a 24-point beating.
Stephen Jackson captured the mood of a locker room that was more or less livid because of trash-talk they felt was taken to the extreme, addressing what he felt was a matter of disrespect by the Celtics throughout the course of the game.

“I can take getting beat, if it’s about basketball,” said Jackson. “But when it gets to a point where yotu’re being personal and being disrespectful as a man to another man, that’s when I have a problem.”

I've been critical of the Celtics' trash talk, saying we need more snarl than smack. I still would prefer it that way. Let's right the ship and start playing good basketball before we tell everyone else how bad they are and how good we are. Right?
Maybe not.
Perhaps the Celtics use trash talk to get them into the game emotionally. Once you've exchanged personal insults with someone inches from your face, it's kinda hard to "disengage" or even let down. In fact, the body's natural response to confrontation is to produce adrenaline, making you even more ready to have at it.
I can live with that, I guess. My question is whether this is a last gasp effort by the team to inject steriods into a sinking ship (how's that for a mixed metaphor), or whether this is indeed part of a legitimate effort to take our play to a higher level.

Speaking of sinking ships, if we are interested in luring free agents like finley, it won't hurt the cause if we start a winning streak and show people we've still got something in the tank.
Pierce and Stephen Jackson were hit with technical fouls for a verbal exchange while Jackson was lining up to shoot a foul shot in the third quarter.
Pierce said he thought a foul called on Allen wasn’t deserved, and Jackson took exception.
“I think we need to do that more,” Pierce said. “I think that’s who we are, truthfully. We’re a team that usually intimidates the other team, pushes them around, talks trash. We’ve got to somewhat be that way, not so where it’s distracting to the team and costing us a game.’’
