It remains the belief here that - dime store psychiatrist alert - the Celts squandered Game 7 against Orlando last year because they believed they would get embarrassed by Cleveland.

I've been saying a variation of this since last spring. I'm not sure they would have been embarrassed, but the Celtics would have potentially given Cleveland a psychological edge were the teams to meet up again in the playoffs, say, this year. No less important, they would have given the Cavs the satisfaction of beating them in a title game.
You don't do that if you don't have a realistic chance to win.
I'm still pissed the C's killed themselves in the 1987 ECFs, just to serve themselves up on a platter to the Lakers in the Finals.
