Artis v. Kareem
FloridaCeltsFan surprised me the other day by invoking the name Artis Gilmore. Artis came to the Celtics near the end of his career. Red signed him as insurance in case Bill Walton never returned from injury. Artis played 47 games in green, averaging 3 points and 3 rebounds in 11 MPGs, shooting 57% from the field. End of the day, Artis never lived up to expectations. Here I chronicle #13's contribution a bit more in depth. Apparently the G-man averaged 1 foul for every four minutes of play.
Ah, but how might that disappointing 1987-88 season have ended had the Celtics acquired the Artis Gilmore from the above video? And while Mountain Man never returned to the line-up that year, there were a few weeks of practice where both Artis and Walton were practicing together with the Chief.
Holy Crap.
That must have been fun to watch.
Maybe one day video will turn up on YouTube.

Oh man! That would have been fun to see. Artis, Chief and Mountain Man. They could have sold tickets to those practices and cleaned up :)
