As far as medleys go, it wasn't bad.

A Medley? Puhleeeeeeaaaaaasse

Are you serious? The Who is going to attempt to reduce their music to a freaking medley? The Who easily ranks as an all-time great band. They put synthesized music on the map. They invented the rock opera. They certainly didn't invent the eight-minute song. But the Who is nothing, if not the eight-minute song. Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes, and pick your song from Tommy or Quadrophenia. These songs are great songs in part because they are long, because they have so many twists and turns, ups and downs, slows and fasts.

The Who is not a band amenable to the medley.

Now, having said that, I could see something like this:

You start the concert out with Baba, and right when the song is about to transition to lyrics, Roger yells "Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss" from Won't Get Fooled. Before concluding that tune with the locomotive sound coming through your living room speakers, Roger hums hmmmmmmmmmmmmm and the song transforms into the crescendo from Behind Blue Eyes. They then finish the set by dipping their toe into the waters of My Generation, Can't Explain, and Long Live Rock.

I oppose the whole medley format when it comes to the Who. But if they're gonna do a medley, now at least they have a recipe. Too bad it won't go down like this. I hear they're gonna do rock opera stuff. I'm sure it's genius. I just never got into it.

What Happened to the New Boss?

I always loved to run to this song. Trying to keep pace with the last two minutes of music is a challenge. The crescendo rivals Stairway and Baba. In the case of Won't Get Fooled Again, the crescendo starts when Roger sings the last verse, "Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss." Notice above, however, the last verse is omitted.
