The Bench

With all the flak the bench has been catching during the course of this season, some of us may have overlooked their most recent performances. They registered 24 points and 18 rebounds against the Knicks, and 42 points and 22 rebounds against the Wiz.

Of course, those were two games against two bad teams, one of which ended in a loss. Worse, those two performances were preceded by a 9-point, 2-rebound effort against Portland. One game before the no show in Oregon, however, the bench posted 44 points and 20 rebounds against Sacramento. Even in the loss to Golden State they posted 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Twenty points and twelve rebounds is a pretty good night for any bench.

So amid the hue and cry over having lost four games in six tries, a sign of better things to come may have gone unnoticed.

This doesn't mean Danny doesn't have some work to do. But it does mean that the amount of work may be less than previously thought.

The problem with our bench has been inconsistency. We have some good players but we never know what we will get out of them. Leon has been pretty consistent and always makes the most of his minutes, but everyone else has been up and down. I think that is what we miss the most from Posey... his consistency. We always knoew what we would get from him night in and night out and because of that, the bench was more consistent.

Yeah, Pose gave us consistency and leadership.

The second unit is rudderless.

Star Berry might help on this front or totally kill us.

Big chance to take. His track record has shown that he is a cancer to every team he has played on. Can a tiger change his stripes? We may get to find out.

Yeah, did you see what Red said about Marbury?

He predicted he would make the Knicks worse.

Not sure if it was Marbury or Zeke or both.

But Marbury played a role.

Yes, Red didn't like Marbury. Red was all about team players and character players and Marbury has never been either. Red was a very good judge of players.

I guess we'll find out if Danny listens to read or goes his own way.
