KC Jones' Bench Finally Showing Signs of Hearbeat

The Mark Acres Chronicles
3/30/88

The best recent development of late has been some timely bench contributions from the likes of Mark Acres, Jim Paxson, Dirk Minniefield and Artis Gilmore (although his best performance was in a starting role). K.C. Jones has waited all season to see
what he's seeing now.

In the 106-105 Monday night triumph over the Nets, for example, Acres and Paxson each scored 12 points in bench roles. Now that might not be stop-the-presses news in Houston, Los Angeles, Pontiac, Milwaukee or Salt Lake City, but it happens to be
the first time all season the Celtics have had two bench people score in double figures during a non-blowout game.

Acres has played excellent basketball of late, shooting 6 for 7 against the 76ers and 6 for 6 against the Nets. Any time the 6-10 rookie has been encouraged to be offensive-minded, he has responded in a positive manner.
