Ok. So I'm slow on the uptake.
But this is quite the honor for Rajon Rondo. I've been pitching the Celtics defense as the best defense "up the middle" (baseball analogy) in basketball. The Celtics have Garnett (centerfield), Rondo (second base and shorstop), and Kendrick Perkins (catcher), and this was before we added the defensive presence of Rasheed Wallace. As you might have guessed by now, I just go off on this rant or that rant never really expecting anybody too agree with me.
So when I say Kendrick Perkins should be NBA All-Defense, I believe it, but I don't expect too many other people to believe it. Same when I say Rajon Rondo is the second best point guard in the NBA. I'm coo, too, that nobody ever seems to agree with me. In my mind, Dave Cowens' top five seasons and Bill Walton's five mostly healthy seasons put both red-heads at the table in the conversation for best big-men of all time. A lot of people would scoff at that idea.
But when one of my rants starts to resemble reality, I need to stand up and smell the coffee.
Rajon Rondo All-Defense. Owwwwwwww! I'm fired up. Another step toward one of my rants coming true, namely that Rajon Rondo is the second coming of DJ. Let's keep our ears to the ground this year when the pundits mention Kendrick Perkins. If we start hearing "All Defense" on a regular basis, take that as a harbinger of things to come.
God I love this team.

Hey! I've been saying that Perk should be first team all defense for years now. Perk is one of the best defenders in the league period. He has improved every season he has been in the league, and I can't wait to see what he adds to his game for this season.

Hey Kid, who's better Rondo right now or DJ at his best?
I'd be giving Perk and Rondo All Defense honors this year, but is Rondo better than both Paul and Williams?
